Peter Cassell is an illustrator living in the San Francisco Bay Area. He approaches his work with the determination of creating intriguing composition, design and character, as well as developing images conceptually to provide a meaningful exploration into the subject matter. He earned his BS degree in design with an emphasis in illustration at SJSU. He worked for over 20 years in house for a design agency, working for a variety of tech clients like Adobe (he created the iconic Illustrator 10 image, among others) Cisco Systems, Zynga, Nomadic VR, Corsair, as well as some consumer brands like Anheuser-Busch, California Olive Ranch, Capcom, Kern's, Levi's and Stanford Health Care. More recently he has pursued editorial, narrative, book, portrait and caricature. His work has been accepted in the Los Angeles Society of Illustrators annual competition, New York Society of Illustrators, American Illustration, and 3x3 International Illustration Annual. Recent News
I got the exciting news that three of my illustrations have been accepted in the Society of Illustrators, Los Angeles annual competition Illustration West No. 62! A big thank you to this years judges. My accepted entries are a portrait of The Beatles in their 80s inspired by their last song "Now and Then", as well as caricatures of Robert Oppenheimer and Malcolm X.
I'm super excited and honored to learn 4 of my illustrations are Merit Winners in the 3x3 International Illustration Annual No. 20, and will be included in the printed annual.
I feel so fortunate to find out my portrait of Soul Brother #1, James Brown has been selected to be included in the American Illustration AI42 printed annual book, as well as the online archive!
I got some very good news that four of my portraits made it into this years Illustration West 61 Annual Show!
It's been a goal of mine to get a piece into the New York Society of Illustrators Annual show and book. I'm so excited to find out this portrait of my dog Waffles will be included in their 65th annual! What a good boy!!!  
2022 was my first time entering the 3x3 International illustration competition. I'm so honored to have received two merit awards and three honorable mentions!
I'm very excited to learn that 7 of my illustrations were accepted into the Los Angeles Society of Illustrators 60th Illustration West annual show, with my caricature of John Oliver receiving a bronze award!
My illustration for the French WWII movie "A Man Escaped" has been selected for the American Illustration Winners #41 archive gallery!
